Glow-up Day: Squarespace website redesign for a Virtual Assistant, Circuit Assist

Meet Circuit Assist

Rachel Circuit, founder of the Virtual Assistant agency Circuit Assist, is a former Major Trauma Intensive Care Nurse turned medical business administration and productivity specialist.

Circuit Assist support health professionals by providing expert medical administration services for their practices - allowing them to focus on their day-to-day client work without distractions. Their services include your typical Virtual Assistant tasks such as diary management, social media scheduling and transcription as well as Clinic Coordination.

Rachel has a lovely energy, and so many exciting plans for Circuit Assist, I feel extremely lucky that she trusted me with Glowing up her website.

Website challenges & redesign goals

When Rachel first got in touch, she said that she was looking for her Squarespace website to breathe.

This might sound like an interesting request…

But when I had a look at her site it was obvious what she meant. Her niche was solid, her copy was amazing and her specialist services were in high demand. However - her website felt busy and unstructured, which meant it was difficult for potential clients to see any of this. Other sticking points she wanted sorting were:

  • The brand visuals didn’t feel right, or reflect Rachel’s warm, fun personality

  • As Circuit Assist provide unique medical VA support, potential clients often have lots of questions - and the same questions were coming up over and over again on discovery calls because they weren’t addressed on the website

Squarespace redesign & content strategy

Throughout the Glow-up Day, all design and content decisions were shaped by the conversations we had in our strategy session and the goals Rachel has for her business, including:

Cleaner, high-end design

We made Circuit Assit’s website breathe! In fact, this was front and centre of all decisions we made about the website redesign. Everything needed to feel more premium, spacious and intentional. This included:

  • creating a portfolio of clean, user-friendly website sections that I used across the Circuit Assist website for a cohesive overall feel

  • choosing new fonts to make sections easier to read - this is particularly important as a lot of people tend to skim read online content

  • adding a filter to all the images of Rachel to make them brighter and lighter, giving the site a more positive vibe

  • including clear calls to action (i.e. buttons) within each page to guide visitors easily to the ‘contact us’ form.

Created a powerful header section

Before visitors even start to scroll through the website, the hero section (at the top of the homepage) now says exactly what Circuit Assist does, who they support - and the benefits of working with them. It’s actually a fair amount of information, but the layout we chose makes this easy to read and digest without feeling cluttered.

Using a brighter, warmer colour palette and adding graphics to show Rachel’s playful side

Whilst Rachel puts a huge emphasis into delivering a professional, expert service to her clients, she’s got a big, fun personality which she didn’t want to hide! So as part of her Glow-up Day, we switched the colour palette and sprinkled some more playful badges across her website pages.

Introduced a dedicated ‘Working with a Specialist Medical CA’ page

Because Circuit Assist work in such a niche area, we wanted to give people clear, helpful guidance and answers to the questions they often have. This means Rachel isn’t spending time on discovery calls answering common questions, and can focus her energy on getting to know potential clients and working out how she can help.

Tidied up the mobile view of her website

Once all the new sections were in place I tidied up the website’s mobile view. With mobile devices accounting for over 60% of website traffic, it’s always essential to make sure everything looks brilliant for mobile users too.

The result

Rachel is really pleased with her new site, and it’s a world away from her previous website. You can see her new website here

She says:

“I can’t recommend Rachel enough for her skills, knowledge, and abilities. I wasn’t really sure what I wanted other than layers, intentional white space, and for it to breathe. And just look at what she did with such minimal information. A thing of beauty. I can’t stop scrolling around and looking at it!”
